Red Valentine Bean Seeds. Originally grown by the Missouri River Indians, this bean was sent to Europe in 1817 and then sent back to America in 1837, where the Landreth Seed Co. first listed it. The Red Valentine bean was used as a snap bean and is best when picked young. The seed is pink mottled with cream to lighter pink and is about the size of a kidney bean. Fearing Burr (Field and Garden vegetables of America, 1865) stated that, "Few, if any, of the dwarfs harden their pods so slowly, or continue longer in condition for use, and few are more productive." A very historic variety. EXTREMELY RARE.
