Mennonite Sorghum (Sorghum bicolor)

Product Description
$3.95
Maximum quantity available reached.

An exciting heirloom Sorghum that was originally grown in Jamesport, Missouri by a Mennonite gentleman. This old fashioned cane sorghum is perfect for making a light colored syrup for pancakes! The nutritious seed can be used to make flour or for popping! I was pleasantly surprised at how well this Sorghum did for me in Manitoba this year! I direct seeded it as a trial variety and before I knew it was 9’ tall and thriving in the heat of the summer. The attractive tall plants (7-9’) look similar to corn and make wonderful windbreak rows and are then topped by reddish brown plumes of seed which the birds love.

100 seeds per packet.
