Kentucky Wonder Pole - Bean (1850's)

(aka American Sickle Pole, Eastern Wonder, Egg Harbor, Georgia Monstrous Pole, Improved Southern Prolific, Missouri Prolific, Old Homestead Pole and Texas Pole) A very old heirloom variety that has been one of the most popular beans of all time. This heirloom was grown throughout the South by the 1850’s under various names and was released commercially as Kentucky Wonder in 1877 by James J. H. Gregory & Sons. The vigorous vines produce loads of 7-10" flat green pods with real bean flavor that are delicious! Kentucky Wonder is a true all-purpose bean-the pods are great fresh, frozen or canned and the brown seed are excellent for baking.
