Florence Fennel has been grown since ancient times. It is known as Finnochio in Italy. The plant forms an enlarged base composed of swollen leaf bases that can be eaten raw or cooked and has a mild anise flavor. The leaves can be added to soups, salads or used as a garnish. Ht: 2-3’ Biennial. Treated as an annual in Zone 3.
