Black Cumin (Nigella sativa) seed has been cultivated and used for thousands of years for flavoring food and for its medicinal properties. Seeds of Black Cumin were even found in ancient tombs in Egypt! The very light blue flowers are attractive and produced on bushy plants. The seed has a taste similar to black pepper and nutmeg and can be ground and sprinkled on food like black pepper, or even added to rye bread. Easy to grow and seed ripens even in short season areas.
