(pre-1887) Brought to the United States by Giuseppe and Angella Nardello in 1887 from a village in the province of Potenza, Italy. They named the pepper after their son and continued to grow it every year in Naugatuck, Connecticut. Before passing away in 1983, Jimmy shared the seeds with Seed Savers Exchange so his cherished family heirloom could be preserved. Jimmy Nardello Pepper is a sweet Italian frying pepper that turns a deep red color when ripe and grows to about 8 inches long. The tasty peppers are delicious fried, fresh and freeze and dry well.
