A very exciting variety that is a descendant of the Horticultural Lima bean which has been around since 1885. This bean is named after Roy Dolloff of Burke Hollow, Vermont. In the 1920’s Hattie Gray, who was then a child, remembers her mother and her walking to Burke Hollow to get the seed from Roy. Hattie grew the bean for 60 years in West Burke, Vermont and then shared it with Leigh Hurley in 1985. Doloff is used as a green shell bean or dry bean. Hattie was well known for her baked beans served at church suppers. This special bean is flattened and resembles a Lima bean.
