Hourani is a truly ancient type of Durum Wheat that was cultivated for millennia in the Houran plateau of Northern Jordan and Southern Syria. It was stored by King Herod 2,000 years ago in the Masada Fortress in the Middle East’s Fertile Crescent and later excavated by archaeologists. Hourani Wheat did very well for me in Manitoba and was early with large heads. Hourani Wheat is said to make delicious flour that can be used for bread, pasta and a host of other recipes.
