Winter Luxury - Pumpkin (1893) - (C.Pepo)

(aka Livingston’s Pie Squash, Golden Russet, Luxury Pie, Queen, Queen Luxury, Standard Pie, Winter Queen) Introduced independently as Winter Luxury in 1893 by Johnson & Stokes of Philadelphia, PA and as Livingston’s Pie Squash in 1894 by A. W. Livingston’s Sons of Columbus, Ohio. Livingston apparently found it growing in the garden of one of his customers who had grown it for many years. The 5-7 lb orange pumpkin shape fruit is covered with a silvery netting and the velvety flesh is smooth and fibre free. A superb pie pumpkin and great for fall decoration. (90 days to maturity)
