Native to North America, this variety produces plants with medium blue flowers and have a similar appearance to lupines and blooms in early summer. After flowering, the plant forms dark pods that can be used for dried flower arrangements. The Cherokee Indians used the plant to make a blue dye, a practice later adopted by the European settlers. It was also used medicinally. False Indigo can have slow or erratic germination. Attracts butterflies. Sun. Ht: 3-4’ Perennial-Zone 3
