An heirloom pickling cucumber developed in the 1930’s by Solomon “Solly” Beiler, a bishop in the Beachy Amish Mennonite Church in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Seed was obtained from Martin J. Hughes who is a present day member of the church in Elmira, NY. The productive vines produce stout green cucumbers best picked for pickling when they are the size of your thumb. (60 days to maturity)
