Introduced by Richard Diener of Kentfield, Marin County, California in 1917. Diener Tomato was selected from an old Italian canning variety of tomato grown for years in the area. The deep red large oblate beefsteak type fruit with an indented crown can grow to 3 lbs but average 1 lb in weight. Diener is great for slicing as well as processing and was originally promoted for dehydrating, catsup and canning. Diener is one of the most beautiful red heirloom tomatoes available. Indeterminate, regular leaf foliage. (80 days from transplant)
