An rare old heirloom similar to Long Pie Pumpkin but with slightly smaller fruit. Originated in New England and was grown by the Abenaki of New Hampshire, Maine and Western Massachusetts. Between 1804-1806, Lewis and Clarke traded Algonquin Pumpkins with the Mandan natives. The long green fruit look like zucchini and are ready to harvest when the spot touching the ground turns golden orange. The squash then continue to ripen in storage for long periods of time. Great for pies! (85 days to maturity) EXTREMELY RARE. A Slow Food Ark of Taste variety.
